Tuesday, January 21, 2008 Dear Parents and Families, Our Field Trip to Shelburne Farms is Tuesday, January 29th. We are so excited! If you have not yet received your parent driver confirmation letter but signed up to drive, please let me know ASAP. We need shoe boxes! If you have any spare ones lying around, or even anything of similar size, send them our way! Also, keep those plastic bags coming! J The 100th Day of School is coming up quickly! Please start thinking of a collection of 100 to send in on February 7th. Guidelines are that the collection must be manageable enough for your child to carry on their own. Please don’t buy something for this project. There are plenty of collections in our own homes!
Ideas: dry beans, pennies, cereal on
a string, marbles, stones, dry pasta, beads Diversity is all around us! We are studying diversity issues in our own community in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Please enforce our work at home with discussions and opportunities to experience the rich diversity of our city. You might be amazed how concretely our young learners are able to grasp such a big concept! Parent Volunteers Welcome! I am looking for one or two parents who can commit to coming once a week, any day Monday through Thursday from 9:45-10:30 am. Please contact me for more information if you are interested in reading with some of our students during our literacy time! Please
feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.
Email is best. Sincerely, Miss
Rebecca Smith http://champlain.bsdvt.org/~rsmith 864-8477

We are
working on learning some early procedures and skills that will help us be
successful all year. When we know how to self-monitor our volume and
our choices, we become self-sufficient learners.
We are identifying cycles wherever we can. Our birthdays are a great example of cycles. Please help us find some cycles in our homes and in our lives. |
